Orage's Anti Tour Joins Axis at La Reserve for the Jib El Chalet

MAR.27 / 09

With Spring fast approaching and the weather changing before our very eyes, there is nothing that says spring is here more than a spring contest. To make that happen we've joined forces with Axis Boutique, Moog Audio, Hype Energy and La Reserve for the 3rd edition of the Jib El Chalet.

This three day event that begins Friday March 27th and runs until Sunday the 29th features a jam format ski contest, DJ's and other happenings all weekend long. To enter the contest visit wwwjibelchalet.com or head to La Reserve.

We'll see you there.

The Anti Tour Stops at Mount Seymour

FEB.27 / 09

There is only one word that can describe last week-end’s Anti Tour event at Mount Seymour: unusual! For the past few seasons, the annual slopestyle organized by SnowCovers, Orage and K2 saw bad weather (see: rain) which turned the event into slushy and slow rail jams. Fortunately for the 20 riders that showed up last Sunday, the weather finally cooperated and everybody was able to start cultivating their goggle tan with bluebird skies that lasted all day.

The park crew at Seymour is always on top of its game, and this year was no exception. The course consisted of a staircase feature with 3 options: flat-down box, down rail or down box.

Two lines of two jumps followed, the largest line (20 feet drop down to 40 feet wedge) seeing the most action all day with all spins ranging from zeros to switch 1080s.

The last feature consisted of the choice of a butter box to flat-down box or a corrugated pipe to down bar. For those who did not want to ride the traditional course, there was also some features laid out around the course that could be hit along the way.

Some of the highlights are the butter and lay-back spins off the kickers, Liam Casey hopping on a guard rail before comboing on the box and and smooth spins and flips from everybody. I think it is safe to say that the event was a success.

Congratulations to everybody who entered and big thanks to SnowCovers and Mount Seymour for putting on a great show.

The Drop-In Rail Jam Goes off at Silver Star!

FEB.2 / 09

Silver Star ski resort in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, can definitely be proud of what went down last week-end, January 24-25 2009. The second volume of the Drop-In rail jam was a huge success, with a total of 21 skiers showing up to please a huge crowd braving -20 temperatures. The set-up was in perfect condition and riders could choose from a high flat bar, a down box to flat box and a down c-rail. All three features saw a ton of action during the evening, with all kinds of 270s, switch-ups and presses being thrown by all competitors. Both men and women rode hard all night and it all came down to a final 30 minute jam where the intensity was at its highest. Watching from the sidelines with a microphone in my hands, I can tell you that the judges must have had a tough time awarding the top 3 positions. Here they are:

Men’s
1 – Mike Mertion
2 - Vincent Martin
3 – Cam Smith

Women’s
1 – Nina Abramishvili
2 – Siobhan Uy
3 – Kara Heal

Big ups to all the competitors and people watching and cheering. Thanks to SilverStar Resort and the great event and terrain park crews. These guys really know how to put on an event, so watch out for the next Drop-In rail jam on March 6th and the Throw Down Showdown Slopestyle March 28-29. And don’t miss the slopestyle at Mount Seymour on February 15!

Here are some pictures and a short video for your viewing pleasure!

See you on the slopes! And be sure to hit SilverStar’s park!

SnowBomb and Squaw Valley USA respectfully announce the Second Annual Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam, to take place Saturday, November 29. A year ago, the Tahoe/Truckee and snowboarding communities lost a rising star when Charles "Coogan" Kelly was slain at a party in Reno, NV. Coogan was a successful competitor on the rail jam and snowboard competition circuit around Tahoe. In its second year, the Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam is a tribute to Coogan, a passionate snowboarder and friend. In his memory, SnowBomb will donate all competitor registration fees to the Coogan Kelly Foundation.

Details: The Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam is open to competitors of all ages and talents and consists of both mens and womens ski and snowboard divisions. Registration is at 9 am, practice starts at 11 am, and the competition will begin at 1 pm. If time allows a special Best Trick Jam Session will follow the competition.

The Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam is free for spectators, as it is scheduled to take place on Searchlight (Lower Exhibition) located near the base of the mountain.
Entry fee for all competitors is $10 and helmets are mandatory for all competitors. Athletes under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at registration to sign a liability release form.

The Coogan Kelly Foundation raises money for the Coogan Kelly Scholarship awarded each year to young aspiring snowboarders to help advance their careers. Contributions to the Coogan Kelly Foundation can be sent to:

Anti Tour Jingle Jam

DEC.9 / 08
It's dumping on the east coast but don't pull out your Pow skis just yet. Get your jib sticks and get over to The Beach at Sugarloaf Resort in Maine. The Jingle Jam was pushed back from last weekend and is about to go down.

Re-scheduled for Saturday December 13, 2008 is one of the east coast's most bad ass early season rail jams known to man. And with the freshies flying, snow will not be a problem.

For more info on the event check out http://www.sugarloaf.com/EventsActivities/index.html

When you get there stop by the Orage tent, say what's up, fill out an Anti Tour sign up card and put yourself in the running to win a trip for 2 to the Orage Masters 6 in Whistler, BC this April. We're also giving away $500 Orage wardrobes to 6 lucky winners who sign up at the Anti Tour events.

see you on the hill...

Orage, Kittery Trading Post, and a Bunch of Turkey Rail Jammers

DEC.3 / 08
This past weekend the Orage crew packed up the tent, the banners, the free schwag and a ton of stoke as we headed up to the great white state of Maine for the latest stop on Orage's Anti Tour.

Kittery Trading Post and Shawnee Peak resort put together a killer event, the Turkey Rail Jam with one of the cleanest box set ups we've ever seen.

Skiers and snowboarders came in droves to session a couple 40' straight box and C box set ups for for prizing.

The love was in the air as 15 ski, snowboard and kayaking finalists shed some of their turkey weight and threw down for killer prizing from Orage, Roxy, K2, Skull Candy, and many more.

Blog Report; Orage
Being new to a team, I guess this is one of those tests you have to go through to prove yourself (hahaha) so here it goes my first blog ever. Movie premieres are over, as I stare out the window in my Math 12 class, snow begins to fall, let’s hope it stays! My home mountain is set to open this Sunday, I will be out doing some laps with the homies and some of the boys from Silver Star. Its goona be sick to actually get out there and get some turns in, because the little rail setup we have up the hill is defiantly becoming outdated. Sun Peaks Resort is my home mountain and I am super stoked to say that the Sun Peaks terrain park is now sponsored by Monster Energy, and that Orage will be putting on a Anti Tour stop here December 27th/2008 which I will be jammin’ at, keeping the vibe high! I look forward to an absolute banger year; filming, traveling, competing and helping out at events whenever possible. From my first trip to the US Open planned for this season to putting on the Anti Tour stop here in Sun Peaks, I can’t wait to see what this season holds. So now it seems only fitting since this is my first blog report to give some praise to the ones who have made this possible; Fergie Cancade and TJ for thinking I am cool enough to roll with the Orage posse. Cody and Sue for making it happen here at Orage, Sun Peaks Resort, Oakley, Liberty, LSL, the parents, Nick Neu, Corey Wiwchar, Aaron Long, and Toby Ianson.
See you December 27th/2008, holler!

Orage Hosts the Turkey Rail Jam: Nov 29, 2008

NOV.26 / 08

Orage, The Kittery Trading Post and Shawnee Peaks has put out this All Points Bulletin to round up as many left over turkeys as possible for a rail session going down this Saturday Nov 29, 2008 from 11am to 3pm at the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, Maine (Route 1 / PH: 1-888-587-6246).

Once the tryptophan has warn off and you've emerged from your deep turkey hangover get down to KTP to session their 40 foot box and rail set up. Skier and Snowboarders welcome... come one, come all, throw it down and get yourself one step closer to winning a free season pass to Shawnee Peak, Orage Stoke Certificates and tons of other prizing.

See you this Saturday for another stop on Orage's 2008 Anti Tour.

Orage Anti Tour Conquered Avon, CT

SEP.29 / 08

The small town of Avon, Ct played host to Ski Sundown's Traveling Rail Jam this past weekend and Orage was on site to add fuel to the fire. We sent one of our very own, a man by the name of Intern Eric aka "Doaner" to pump up the crowd, toss out some free schwag and hook the short list of invited competitors up with prizing in hopes to push their rail mastery to the next level.
Depsite the original event date being postponed, a decent crowd was on hand the next day, aka yesterday aka sunday Sept 28, 2008 to witness all that Avon has to offer the early season shred scene.

Jarrod from near bye Ski Sundown set up a nice scaffold drop in and looted plenty of scraped snow from the local ice rink to keep the dozen or so jibbers jibbing... at least until the rain set in. And big E.D., the Doaner did what he was sent to do... in other words he harrased as many people in the crowd as he could in exchange for free Orage t shirts, bandanas and anything else we had to toss out. In the end, the crowd made out with tons of schwag and Doane got himself hooked up with hamburgers, soda and cotton candy.

Job well done Doane. And to the 3 who threw down the hardest on the rail set, enjoy your Orage gear.

And for those of you who did not make it to Stop 2 of the Orage Anti Tour, we'll see you somewhere along the road to the Masters 6.

The Orage Anti Tour Invades AVON, CT This Weekend

SEP.24 / 08

For those of you living in the Connecticut area... specifically the town of Avon feel free to come chill with Orage and crew as the Orage Anti Tour stop by Avon Day. Not only do we love the town of Avon we also support some of the local dealers such as The Ski Market and also a good fellow by the name of Fluff. Jarrod "Fluff" Moss just so happens to be the fearless leader of Ski Sundowns Terrain Park and has personally taken on the challenge of turning Avon day into an early season jib jam.

Heroic efforts such as these deserve the support of Orage. We'll be on site stoking the crowd with tons of free goodies, giving away killer 08 product and accepting names on our sign up list for anyone interested in winning a free trip to the Orage Masters 6 going down this April in lovely Whistler BC at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. To get in on the action find our tent... its big and black, you can't miss it. And give Intern Eric a High 5 when you see him.

As you may recall, i mentioned a jib jam a few lines back. Jarrod and Ski Sundown will be on site hosting an invitational rail contest with warmups and prelims going down throughout the day ending with the finals starting at 5:30 pm.

So don't miss out on the celebration of all things Avon, Orage and early season metal madness.

See you in Avon this Saturday September 27. If by chance mother nature doesn't shine the light down on us, a rainday is scheduled for Sunday Sept 28, 2008

For more information on the event, drive to Avon, Ct this Saturday.
See you there.
